Snickerdoodles

Ingredients


½ Cup (1 stick) soft butter or margarine
¼ cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup sifted enriched flour
½ cup finely chopped nuts (optional)
2 Tablespoons granulated sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon

Directions


Preheat oven to very slow (275°).
Place butter or margarine in mixing bowl.
Blend in powdered sugar and vanilla.
Add the flour, a little at a time, and mix well.
Stir in nuts.
Mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon on a piece of waxed paper.
Shape the dough into small balls.
A tablespoon will help to make balls of the same size
Roll cookie balls in the sugar-cinnamon mixture and place on an ungreased cookie sheet, 1 inch apart.
Bake about 30 minutes.
Remove cookies from the oven. Use a spatula to lift cookies to the cooling racks or paper toweling.
Makes about 3 dozen
